Aaron,

Thanks for the input. In my tests, I've found the Panasonic LX3 a bit too noisy for my tastes even at lower ISO settings. I think there is more to it than the combination of f-stop and ISO that you mention. Yet, the LX3 is capable of excellent images under the right conditions.

It's good to know that there are third-party accessories - such as the remote release bracket - available for the LX3. But with the popularity of the G11, it has more accessories available than the LX3.

I do not own either camera. I finally purchased an Olympus E-P1 that I am very happy with. I plan to write a review here soon.

Thanks again for your comments,

I just read this, and it brought to mind some things about the LX3:
ISO 400 at f/2 on the LX3 is the same light level as ISO 800 at f/2.8 on the Canon G11, so the low-light capabilities of the 2 cameras is similar.
The new firmware offers +/- 3-stop exposure bracketing - very useful if you are interested in High Dynamic Range photos. The new firmware also displays flashing highlights in playback mode, not just review mode.
There is a 3rd-party shutter release cable holder available - it uses the hot shoe to attach.
You can use Olympus Flashes with full TTL support - Olympus and Panasonic use the same flash system. Some of the Olympus flashes offer tilt and swivel.

Hi Ernesto,

I've found that each camera I've tested so far, the Panasonic LX3, Canon G11 and the Canon S90 I'm working with now has something to offer. I wish someone would take all of the good features from each of them and build them into one camera. Then, they'd really have something!

Thanks again for lending me your LX3 for testing.

Alan, great review. very informative ,I learned a few things about my camera I had not yet discovered after a few weeks of use. I like your suggestion to replace shoulder strap with a wrist leash.
What I like most about the Lumix LX3 is the wide angle and the ability to focus as close as 1cm-very useful for some macro, providing you can shoot at 100 ISO.
