Tamron is offering special Father’s-Day savings on their 18-270mm VC lens for Canon and Nikon Cameras. If you’ve been lusting after this lens, now is the time to buy it.
With its amazing 15x zoom range, the Tamron AF18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Lens lets you carry a lot of photo firepower without all the weight of a fully-stocked camera bag. That makes it a good choice for photographers traveling light.
You’ll save $100 by buying it now. The price after rebate is only $529 (with free shipping) at Adorama and B&H Photo and Calumet. Click one of the links to check it out.
Here’s a link directly to the rebate details. In a nutshell, you qualify for the rebate if you purchase this lens from any authorized Tamron dealer between June 10 and June 21, 2010. You have to mail it in by July 15th. It applies to new US products only, not cheaper gray market import versions. Adorama and B&H and Calumet are all authorized dealers.
I don’t have much personal experience with this lens, but it’s popular and generally well-reviewed. A few friends who own it are happy with it and the images I’ve seen are very good for a lens in this price range.
You’ll get better results with something like a Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII lens, but that one costs $2200! That’s a lot of money for a little bit better image quality. Plus, it’s heavy and you’ll still need to carry another lens or two to cover the 18-70mm range. With photo gear, there’s always a trade-off between price, weight and image quality. Only you can decide which is most important.
